1985-86 Accord & 1986-87 Prelude
Prior to checking shift position signal, ensure transaxle linkage is properly adjusted and that shift indicator operates properly.
1. Connect system checker harness between ECU and wire harness coupler.
2. Connect positive probe of voltmeter to terminal B7 (green) and negative probe to terminal A18 (black/red) of system checker harness, Fig. 23.
3. Turn ignition switch on, then move shifter lever into gear. 5 or more volts should be present in shifter lever positions other than N or 0 volts in N.
4. If voltage is not as specified, proceed to step 5. If voltage is as specified, proceed to step 6.
5. Check for open circuit in green wire between A/T position indicator and ECU or faulty A/T neutral switch. Repair or replace as required.
6. Turn ignition switch off, then connect positive probe of voltmeter to terminal B9 (green/white) and negative probe to terminal A18 (black/red) of system checker harness, Fig. 23.
7. Turn ignition switch on, then move shifter lever into gear. 5 or more volts should be present in shifter lever positions other than Park or 0 volts in park.
8. If voltage is not as specified, check for open circuit in green/white wire between A/T position indicator and ECU or faulty A/T Park switch. Repair or replace as required.
