1. Remove dashboard lower panel and disconnect 14-P connector from main wire harness.
2. Check for continuity between terminals in each switch position, Figs. 35 and 36.
3. On 1989 models, if there is continuity in each switch position, switch is functional. If there is no continuity, remove steering wheel and check 3-P connector for continuity, Fig. 36.
4. On all models, if there is no continuity in 3-P connector, replace set/resume switch.
5. If there is continuity in 3-P connector, remove steering column lower cover and disconnect 3-P connector from slip ring, then check continuity between No. 1 and A terminals, No. 2 and C terminals and No. 3 and B terminals.
6. If there is no continuity in 3-P connector, replace lighting switch.
7. If there is continuity in 3-P connector, check slip ring.
