Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

NOTE: Check the following in numerical sequence.

ROUGH IDLE

1. Positive Crankcase Ventilation System.
2. Intake manifold sealing gasket. (fault code 14).
3. Fuel injector or contaminated fuel. (fault code 16).

FREQUENT STALLING

During Warm Up
1. Idle Control System (EACV) (fault code 14).
2. Pressure Regulator.
3. Carbon build up on intake valves.

POOR PERFORMANCE

Misfire or Rough Running
1. Fuel Injector (fault code 16).
2. Pressure Regulator

Fails Emission Test
1. Catalytic Converter.
2. Evaporative Emission Control System.
3. PGM-FI Control System in back-up mode. ("CHECK ENGINE" light on, but not flashing).

Loss Of Power
1. Catalytic Converter.
2. Throttle cable.
