Air Bag Systems: Service and Repair

Position airbag assembly face up, outdoors on flat ground at least 30 feet from any obstacles or people. During deployment, airbag assembly can become hot enough to burn you. Wait 30 minutes after deployment before touching airbag assembly.

1. Confirm that special deployment tool No. 07HAZ-SG00400 or equivalent, is working properly by following the manufacturers check procedure.
2. Disconnect short connector from airbag harness, then cut off airbag connector and connect special deployment tool alligator clips to airbag.
3. Connect a 12 volt battery to deployment tool. If the green light on the tool goes on, airbag igniter circuit is defective and cannot be deployed. If the red light on the tool goes on, airbag is ready to be deployed.
4. Push deployment switch. If deployment occurs, proceed to step 5. If deployment does not happen and green light goes on, airbag igniter is defective and cannot be deployed.
5. Dispose of complete airbag assembly. No part of it can be reused.
