Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor And Specification Chart:
PURPOSE This signal is used by the ECM to determine intake air density (oxygen content) for mixture control.
LOCATION On the intake manifold
CONSTRUCTION Temperature sensitive resistor (thermistor).
OPERATION Thermistor resistance decreases as the air intake temperature increases.
