Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

Malfunction Indicator Lamp:

PURPOSE
The ECM illuminates the "MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP" any time a problem is detected the PGM-FI Computer. This warning is the first indication to the driver there is a problem in the system.

LOCATION
Located on the instrument panel.

OPERATION
If a problem is detected in any of the monitored systems, this light is the primary means of notifying the driver that a problem exists. The ECM also stores a trouble code in erasable memory.
