Engine Difficult to Start When Cold

NOTE: The systems that could be the source of the symptoms are listed and should be checked in the order they are listed, beginning with # 1.

1. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (code 6)
2. Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor (code 3,5)
3. TDC/CRANK/CYL Sensor (code 4,8,9)
4. Engine Control Module (ECM) (BU)

(BU) Back-up code used when the MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LAMP is on. Jump the service check connector, if no code is displayed (MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LAMP stays on steady), the back-up system is in operation.

NOTE: On Canadian models the MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LAMP is the CHECK ENGINE LAMP.
