Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
The
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) operation is monitored by the Engine Control Module
(ECM) and a short or open in the TPS circuit should set Diagnostic Trouble Codes
(DTC) 7.
When testing the
TPS with a DVOM, watch for a smooth transition from
0.5 volts to 4.5 volts while opening the throttle with the ignition key ON.
