Charging the Refrigerant System

R-134a systems require use of special service equipment designed specifically for R-134a systems. R-12 servicing equipment cannot be used on R-134a systems.

To charge system using charging station, follow manufacturers instructions. Do not run engine during liquid charge, as compressor will be damaged. Observe the following Precautions:

1. Do not connect high pressure line to A/C system.
2. Always keep high pressure valve on charging station closed.
3. Perform all evacuation and charging through low pressure service fitting.
4. Do not allow low pressure to exceed 40 psi while charging.
5. Start engine and allow to run below 1,500 RPM, then set A/C fan to MAX.
