Battery - Jump Starting W/ Key On Can Set DTC P0606

SOURCE:
Honda Service News October 2003

TITLE:
Jump-Starting With Ignition in ON (II) Can Set DTC P0606

APPLIES TO:
2003-04 Accord L4 or 2003 Element

SERVICE TIP
If you need to jump-start a 2003-04 Accord L4 or 2003 Element (or any vehicle for that matter) with a low battery (the voltage is less than 5 volts), make sure you turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) before you connect the jumper cables. If you connect the cables with the ignition switch in ON (II), DTC P0606 (PCM processor malfunction) could set. If you get this DTC, use the HDS to clear it, then charge the battery. After charging the battery, start the engine (the MIL should come on and then go off). If the MIL comes on and then goes off, return the vehicle to your customer. If the MIL comes on with DTC P0606, refer to the troubleshooting procedures for this DTC in the Fuel and Emissions section of the appropriate S/M.
