Hot Restart Fan Relay Circuit (Short)

Troubleshooting (Short)

NOTE: After troubleshooting, perform the engine control module (ECM) idle learn procedure.

1. Remove the hot restart fan relay from the multifuse/relay box, and test it.
Is the relay OK?
YES - Go to step 2.
NO - Replace the hot restart fan relay.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
3. Wait for 1 minute. If radiator fan is running, wait for 1 minute after the radiator fan stops.
4. Disconnect engine control module (ECM) connector E (31P).





5. Check for continuity between hot restart fan relay 5P socket terminal No. 3 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire between the multifuse/relay box and ECM.
NO - Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck. If the system works properly, replace the ECM.
