Navigation display buttons do not work or respond properly
NOTE:
- Always check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Before troubleshooting, get the navigation system anti-theft codes.
- After troubleshooting, enter the navigation system anti-theft codes.
1. Do Forced Starting of Display.
2. Check the connections of Display, 6CD and Radio on the Navi System Link screen.
Are the connections normal?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Reconnect or repair navigation display 20P connector, CD changer 14P connector, CD changer 18P connector and/or audio unit 14P connector.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ACC (I).
4. Go into the Diagnostic mode and use the "Touch Panel" test under Monitor Check.
5. Try all the buttons on the navigation system.
Is there a specific row or columns of buttons, set of buttons, or a certain button that does not respond properly (i.e. pressing a button in the lower left corner causes a button in the right lower corner to respond.)?
YES - Replace the display unit.
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Measure the voltage between body ground and navigation display connector A (20P) terminal No. 1 and No. 2 individually.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - If the +B or ACC wire does not have voltage, repair the open in the wire between the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the navigation display.
7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
8. Disconnect the navigation display connector A (20P).
9. Check for continuity between navigation display connector A (20P) terminal No. 10 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 10.
NO - Repair the open in the wire between the navigation display and body ground (G504).
10. Disconnect the navigation unit connector A (20P).
11. Check for continuity between body ground and navigation display connector A (20P) terminal No. 5 and No. 15 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the circuit between the navigation display and the navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 12.
12. Check for continuity between navigation display connector A (20P) terminal No. 5 and navigation unit connector A (20P) terminal No. 10.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 13.
NO - There is an open in the circuit between the navigation display and the navigation unit. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the display and navigation units. If no poor connection or loose terminal is found, replace the affected shielded harness.
13. Check for continuity between navigation display connector A (20P) terminal No. 15 and navigation unit connector A (20P) terminal No. 20.
Is there continuity?
YES - Replace the navigation display.
NO - There is an open in the circuit between the navigation display and the navigation unit. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the display and navigation units. If no poor connection or loose terminal is found, replace the affected shielded harness.
