Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair
Radiator and A/C Condenser Fan ReplacementNOTE:
- Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
- To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
- Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact any other wiring or hoses, or interfere with any other parts.
1. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and navigation system, then write down the customer's radio station presets and XM radio channel presets. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery first, then disconnect the positive cable.
3. Remove the front grill cover.
4. Remove the battery.
5. Remove the engine wire harness connectors (A) from the battery base.
6. Remove the three mounting bolts (B) and loosen mounting bolt (C) then remove the battery base (D).
7. Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch connector (A) and fan motor connectors (B).
8. J35A7 engine: Disconnect the hood switch connector (C)
9. J35A6 engine: Disconnect the engine mount control solenoid valve connector (A) and vacuum hoses (B).
10. Remove the ground cable (C) and harness clamp (D).
11. Remove the two bolts securing the reserve tank, then remove the reserve tank.
12. Remove the two bolts (A) securing the radiator fan shroud, then remove the radiator fan shroud assembly (B) from the battery side.
13. Remove the two bolts (C) and loosen the two bolts (D) securing the condenser fan shroud, then remove the condenser fan shroud assembly (E) from the battery side.
14. Install the radiator and condenser fans in the reverse order of removal.
15. Install the battery. Clean the battery posts and cable terminals with sandpaper, then assemble them and apply grease to prevent corrosion.
16. Reset the power window control unit.
17. Enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then enter the customer's radio station presets and XM channel presets.
18. Set the clock.
