Radiator: Service and Repair

Radiator Replacement

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery first, then disconnect the positive cable. Remove the battery.
3. Remove the front grill cover and the front grille.





4. Remove the upper radiator hose.





5. Remove the lower radiator hose (A) and automatic transmission fluid (ATF) cooler hoses (B). Plug the ATF cooler hoses and lines.





6. Remove the radiator upper brackets/cushions (A).
7. Remove the engine hood latch (B).
8. Remove the radiator and condenser fans.





9. Pull up the radiator assembly (A), then remove the lower cushions (B).
10. Install the radiator and fans in the reverse order of removal.
11. Set the upper and lower cushions securely.
12. Fill the radiator with engine coolant and bleed the air from the system.
13. Adjust the engine hood latch.
14. Install the battery. Clean the battery posts and cable terminals with sandpaper, then assemble them and apply grease to prevent corrosion.
15. Reset the power window control unit.
16. Enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then enter the customer's radio station presets and XM radio channel presets.
17. Set the clock.
