Alaska-only Product Update: Replace ETCS, Starter Cut, and A/F Sensor Relay
BACKGROUND
In extremely cold temperatures, moisture inside the relay freezes and causes the MIL to come on, or it may possibly cause a starter problem.
VEHICLES AFFECTED
This bulletin applies to vehicles sold by Alaskan dealerships only. All 43 affected VINs have been sent to the Alaskan dealerships via an iN message.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Because all 43 vehicles affected by this bulletin are also affected by S/B 05-035, Safety Recall: Front Impact Sensor Corrosion Causes the SRS Indicator to Stay On, customer notifications are not being sent out initially. When a vehicle comes in for S/B 05-035, check to see if this product update also applies. If it does, complete the safety recall and this product update on the same visit. Later this year, customer notifications for this product update will be sent out for any vehicles not yet repaired.
To verify that a vehicle is eligible, do an iN VIN status inquiry.
In addition to the VIN status inquiry, check for a punch mark above the 13th character of the engine compartment VIN. A punch mark in that location means this product update has already been completed.
These vehicles may also be affected by SB 05-036, Product Update: Front Door Inner Handle Cable Freezes, Wire Harness Connectors Need More Dielectric Grease, and S/B 05-0037 Product Update: MIL Comes on with DTC P2647 Do a iN VIN status inquiry to verify if these product updates also apply.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the electronic throttle control system relay, the air/fuel sensor relay, and the starter cut relay.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove both the driver's and passenger's front door sill trims and the kick panels:
^ Refer to page 20-95 of the 2005 Odyssey Service Manual, or
^ Online, enter keyword Trim, and select Interior Trim Removal/Installation-Door Areas from the list.
2. Replace the electronic throttle control system (ETCS) relay located in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
3. Replace the air/fuel sensor relay and the starter cut relay located in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
4. Reinstall both door sill trims and the kick panels.
5. Use the HDS to clear any stored codes in the PGM-FI or VSA systems.
6. Center-punch a completion mark above the 13th character of the engine compartment VIN.
