Engine Controls - MIL ON/Possible Multiple DTC's Set

MIL Is On With DTC P1659
SYMPTOM
In cold temperatures, the MIL comes on, and DTCs P1659 (electronic throttle control system control relay OFF malfunction) is set.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Moisture inside the throttle control relay may freeze, causing the relay to fail and setting P1659 and any of these DTCs:
^ P0135: Rear Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Bank 1, Sensor) Circuit Malfunction
^ P0141: Rear Secondary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Secondary HO2S, Bank 1, Sensor 2) Heater Circuit Malfunction]
^ P0155: Front Air Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Bank 2, Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction
^ P0161: Front Secondary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Secondary H025, Bank 2, Sensor 2) Heater Circuit Malfunction
^ P0498: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Vent Shut Valve Control Circuit High Voltage
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the electronic throttle control system relay, the air/fuel sensor relay, and the starter cut relay.
NOTE:
The same type of relay is used for the air/fuel sensor relay and the starter cut relay. As a preventative measure, these relays must be replaced along with the throttle control relay.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
DIAGNOSIS
Connect the HDS to the DLC and check for DTCs in the PGM-FI section. If DTC P1659 is set, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
NOTE:
If the VSA light is on and DTC 83-1 (PCM communication error) is set, nothing is wrong with the VSA system. This code occurred when P1659 was set.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove both the driver's and passenger's front door sill trims and the kick panels.
^ Refer to page 20-95 of the 2005 Odyssey Service Manual, or
^ Online, enter keyword Trim, and select Interior Trim Removal/Installation-Door Areas from the list.
2. Replace the electronic throttle control system relay located in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
3. Replace the air/fuel sensor relay and the starter cut relay located in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
4. Reinstall both door sill trims and the kick panels.
5. Use the HDS to clear any stored codes in PGM-FI or VSA.
