Removal and Replacement

Starter Removal and Installation

Removal


1. Do the battery removal procedure.
2. Remove the battery base.
3. Remove the splash separator and the intake air ducts.
4. Remove the harness clamp (A).






5. Remove the starter cable (B) from the B terminal, then disconnect the BLK/WHT wire connector (C) from the S terminal.
6. AT model: Remove the upper radiator hose bracket (D) and the dipstick (E).
7. Remove the two bolts holding the starter, then remove the starter.

Installation

1. Install the starter, then install the harness clamp (A).

NOTE: Always use a new gasket (A/T model).






2. Install the starter cable (B) to B terminal, then connect the BLK/WHT wire connector (C) to the S terminal. Make sure the crimped side of the ring terminal faces away from the starter when you connect it.
3. A/T model: Install the upper radiator hose bracket (D) and the dipstick (E).
4. Install the splash separator and the intake air ducts.
5. Install the battery base.
6. Do the battery installation procedure.
7. Start the engine to make sure the starter works properly.
