A/T Key Interlock Solenoid Test

1. Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover. Drivers Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation

2. Remove the steering column covers. Steering Column Removal and Installation

3. Disconnect the steering lock assembly connector (6P GRN).

4. Insert the ignition key in the key cylinder, then turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY (I).

5. Connect a jumper wire from the battery positive terminal to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 4, and connect another jumper wire from the battery negative terminal to steering lock assembly connector terminal No. 3. Make sure that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0) position. Release the one of the jumper wires, and make sure that the key can be turned to LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.

6. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, replace the ignition key cylinder/steering lock assembly. Service and Repair
