Key Interlock Solenoid Test

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations 4-door SRS Component Location Index (2-Door), 2-door SRS Component Location Index (2-Door), and precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or servicing.

1. Remove the steering column covers Steering Column Cover Removal/Installation.

2. Disconnect the steering lock 6P connector.

3. Turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I).

4. Connect power to steering lock connector terminal No. 4, and ground to steering lock connector terminal to No. 3. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0) position. Disconnect power, and check that the key can be turned to LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.





5. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, replace the ignition key cylinder/steering lock Service and Repair.

6. Install the steering column covers Steering Column Cover Removal/Installation.
