D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting
1. D3 switch check:
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
-3. Test the D3 switch Testing and Inspection.
Does the switch test OK?
-YES- The D3 switch is OK. Go to step 2.
-NO- Replace the D3 switch Service and Repair.
2. Problem verification:
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Is there battery voltage?
-YES- Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.
-NO- The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.
3. Open wire check (D3 SW line):
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- The D3 SW wire is OK. Go to step 4.
-NO- Repair an open in the D3 SW wire between the D3 switch 2P connector and ground (G502), or repair poor ground (G502).
4. Shorted wire check (D3 SW line):
-1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- Repair a short to ground in the D3 SW wire between the D3 switch 2P connector and the PCM.
-NO- The D3 SW wire is not shorted. Go to step 5.
5. Open wire check (D3 SW/OD SW line):
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- The D3 SW/OD SW wire is OK. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair an open in the D3 SW/OD SW wire between the D3 switch 2P connector and the PCM.
