HandsFreeLink System Symptom Troubleshooting - Bluetooth audio does not work
Bluetooth audio does not work
NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
* Check if the cell phone with Bluetooth audio functions normally.
* Make sure the cell phone is properly paired.
* Make sure the customer's Bluetooth cell phone is compatible with the Honda HFL system.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Determine possible failure area (GA-NET line, others):
Determine possible failure area (GA-NET line, others)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-2. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to check if it changes to Bluetooth audio source.
Does the display change to Bluetooth audio source?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Go to step 3.
2. Problem verification:

-1. Pair an approved known-good cell phone with Bluetooth audio to the vehicle.
Can you pair an approved cell phone with Bluetooth audio?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time, or there could be an issue with the customer's phone.
-NO- Go to Bluetooth cell phone cannot be paired troubleshooting Bluetooth Cell Phone Cannot Be Paired.
3. Shorted wire check (GA_BUS+ line, GA_BUS- line):
Shorted wire check (GA_BUS+ line, GA_BUS- line)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-2. Disconnect the following connectors.
-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- Go to step 4.
4. Shorted wire check (GA_BUS+ line to GA_BUS- line):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- There is a short in the wires between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- Go to step 5.
5. Shorted wire check (SH_GA_BUS line to another lines):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- There is a short in the wire(s) between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- Go to step 6.
6. Open wire check (GA_BUS+ line, GA_BUS- line):
Open wire check (GA_BUS+ line, GA_BUS- line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 7.
-NO- There is an open in the wire(s) between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
7. Determine possible failure area (HandsFreeLink control unit, others):
Determine possible failure area (HandsFreeLink control unit, others)
-1. Reconnect audio unit connector C (14P) and multi-information display unit connector A (32P).
-2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-3. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select USB mode.
Is No Data displayed in the multi-information display unit?
-YES- Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.
-NO- Go to step 8.
8. Audio unit check:
Audio unit check
-1. Substitute a known-good multi-information display unit Multi-Information Display Unit Removal And Installation, and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
-YES- Replace the original multi-information display unit.
-NO- Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal and Installation.
