Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - USB input sound is low or can not be heard

USB input sound is low or cannot be heard

NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
* Not all players and player functions work with the USB adapter. Please see the Owner's Manual for more information. Always test the customers USB device in a known-good vehicle of the same year and trim (if possible). Technologies change and are updated frequently which may result in USB devices working in newer vehicles, but not in older vehicles of the same model.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Determine possible failure area (USB system, others):

Determine possible failure area (USB system, others)
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Do the Speaker Check Mode with the Self-Diagnostic Function Audio System Self-Diagnostic Function.

Do all speakers make a sound?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Go to No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (without navigation, with premium audio) troubleshooting No Sound Is Heard From The Speaker(s) (Display Is Normal) (With Premium Audio Without Navigation).
-NO- Go to No sound is heard from the speaker(s) (display is normal) (without navigation and premium audio) troubleshooting No Sound Is Heard From The Speaker(s) (Display Is Normal) (Without Navigation and Premium Audio).

2. Problem verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. On the customer's vehicle, connect the customer's USB device to the USB port located in the center console.

-3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-4. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select the USB mode.

-5. Check if the USB device can be operated with the audio unit (Folders or Files UP/DOWN, etc.).

Can you operate the USB device, and is the sound normal?
-YES- Intermittent failure. The USB device is OK at this time.
-NO- The failure is duplicated, go to step 3.

3. Determine possible failure area (USB device, others):

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Connect the customer's USB device to a known-good vehicle (same year/trim) that is equipped with a USB adapter, and check the USB device operation.

Does the USB device work properly in the known-good vehicle?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- USB device is faulty or not compatible.

4. Shorted wire check (GA_AUDIO lines):

-1. Return to the customer's vehicle.

-2. Disconnect the following connectors.





-3. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.














Is there continuity?
-YES- There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- Go to step 5.

5. Shorted wire check (SH_GA_AUDIO line to another lines)

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.














Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
-YES- There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- Go to step 6.

6. Open wire check (GA_AUDIO lines):

Open wire check (GA_AUDIO lines)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.


















Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 7.
-NO- There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the multi-information display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

7. Audio unit check:

Audio unit check
-1. Substitute a known-good multi-information display unit Multi-Information Display Unit Removal And Installation, and recheck.

Does the symptom go away?
-YES- Replace the original multi-information display unit.
-NO- Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal and Installation.
