Undercoating Peeling Off Frame (Clean Frame and Reapply Coating)

2003 HUMMER H2

Condition

Some customers may comment that the undercoating on the frame is coming off.

Cause








The coating may be applied too thick in some areas and is peeling off.

Correction

Clean and reapply coating.

1. Using a putty knife, scrape off all loose or flaking undercoating/wax.

2. The surface should be clean. If the area of the frame has rusted, remove the rust with metal prep and a ScotchBrite(TM) pad.

3. Let the frame air dry before applying the coating.

4. Apply an even coat of Anti-Corrosion Coating, P/N 12346501, to the damaged area.
