Front Bumper Impact Bar Bracket Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Warning (Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Warning).

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
3. Remove all related panels and components.
4. Repair as much of the damage as possible to factory specifications.




5. Remove the tow hook. Refer to Tow Hook Replacement (Tow Hook Replacement).
6. Note the location and remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair ().





Note: Do not damage the frame when removing factor welds.

7. Locate and remove the factory welds. Note the number, size and location of the welds for installation of the service bumper bracket.




8. Remove the damaged bumper bracket.

Installation Procedure




1. Prepare all attachment surfaces as necessary.




2. Position the service bumper bracket.





Note: Service bumper bracket must be welded in position. Failure to weld the bumper bracket may compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle.

3. Weld the service bumper bracket as necessary in the locations noted from the original bracket.




4. Clean and prepare all welded surfaces.
5. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair ().
6. Paint the repair area. Refer to Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems (Base coat/Clearcoat Paint Systems).
7. Replace the tow hook. Refer to Tow Hook Replacement (Tow Hook Replacement).
8. Install all related panels and components.
9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
