Endgate Latch Replacement - Left Side Upper

Removal Procedure

1. Open the spare tire carrier to a full outward position.




2. Remove the end gate trim bezel.
3. Open the end gate.




4. Release the end gate lock rod clip (1) from the handle.
5. Release the left side cable from the upper bolt.




6. Remove the bolts from the latch mechanism. Note the cable bolt is shoulder for the cable.
7. Carefully pull the latch outward and release the lock rod clip (3) from the lock rod (4).
8. Remove the latch from the end gate.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the latch to the end gate.




2. Connect the lock rod (4) to the latch and secure the lock rod clip (3).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Push the latch inward and install the bolts. Note the cable bolt is shouldered.

Tighten the latch bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




4. Lift the end gate and secure the lock rod to the end gate handle.
5. Secure the retainer clips (1).
6. Secure the end gate cable to the end gate body bolt.
7. Verify the operation.
8. Close the end gate.




9. Secure the handle bezel.
10. Latch and secure the spare tire carrier.
