Endgate Latch and Cable Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Replace one cable at a time to ensure the end gate is not contacting the rear bumper.
2. Open the spare tire carrier.
3. Open the end gate.




4. Disconnect the cable from the body cable bolt.




5. Remove the lower end gate shouldered latch bolt (1) from the latch assembly (3).
6. Remove the end gate cable (2) from the latch.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the end gate cable to the lower latch assembly.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Ensure the shouldered bolt (1) is used on the latch cable assembly end.

Tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (19 lb ft).

3. Raise the end gate in order to secure the cable assembly (2) to the end gate box rail bolt.




4. Secure the cable.
5. Repeat for the other side.
6. Close the end gate.
7. Latch and secure the spare tire carrier.
