Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair




Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hose Replacement (LH9)

Removal Procedure

1. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as possible.
3. Remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement (Engine Shield Replacement).
4. Remove the oil pan skid plate. Refer to Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement (Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement).




5. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose (1) from the power steering pump.
6. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose from the power steering fluid reservoir.




7. Remove the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose bracket bolts (2).
8. Remove the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose retaining plate bolt (1).
9. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose (3) from the steering gear.
10. Remove the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose from the vehicle.
11. Clean the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose ports on the steering gear.
12. Transfer any parts as necessary.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose (3) in the vehicle.
2. Connect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose to the steering gear.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose retaining plate bolt (1) and tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb in).
4. Install the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose bracket bolts (2) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




5. Connect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose (1) to the power steering pump. Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
6. Connect the power steering gear inlet and outlet hose to the power steering fluid reservoir.
7. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
8. Install the oil pan skid plate. Refer to Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement (Oil Pan Skid Plate Replacement).
9. Install the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement (Engine Shield Replacement).
10. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
11. Remove the drain pans.
