Subject

DISTRIBUTOR HOLD-DOWN STUD
If it is difficult to properly reinstall the rocker cover after valve train service, there may be a slight interference with the distributor hold-down stud. To correct this condition the following procedure should be used.

1) Mark the distributor location.

2) Remove the distributor locking nut and washer.
* Do not remove or move the distributor

3) Remove the distributor hold-down stud using a jam nut arrangement as shown or a stud remover.

4) Install an 8 mm bolt (P/N 11403-08201) in place of the stud and use the large washer that was originally on the hold-down stud.

5) Check that the distributor location marks made in step 1 are properly aligned. Check the timing with a timing light to insure that the ignition timing is at the 5 degree B.T.D.C. specification. Torque the distributor hold-down bolt to 7-9 ft.lbs.
