Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove clutch cylinder, then drain transaxle fluid.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly.
4. Disconnect select and shift cables, backup lamp switch connector and speedometer cable.
5. Remove starter mounting bolts and the starter motor.
6. Remove stabilizer bar, tie rod end, lower arm ball joint, driveshaft side cover and undercover.
7. Remove bellhousing attaching bolts and the cover.
8. Remove transmission cap and mounting bracket.
9. Remove transmission assembly.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten to specifications.
b. Refill transaxle with suitable oil.
c. Bleed clutch system and adjust clutch pedal as outlined previously.
