Circuit Continuity Test

Ensure alternator drive belt is properly adjusted and battery is fully charged before performing the following procedure.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect ``L'' and ``R'' terminals from alternator, then reconnect battery ground cable and place ignition switch in On position.
3. Connect positive lead of a suitable voltmeter to disconnected terminal and negative lead to ground. Observe voltmeter. Voltmeter should read battery voltage. Repeat procedure for remaining terminal. If voltmeter reading is not as specified, check for short or open in circuit.
