Brake Light Switch Measurement And Adjustment Procedure

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin illustrates the procedure for measuring and adjusting brake light switch clearance. Correct brake light switch adjustment is necessary for proper brake light and cruise control operation.

SERVICING PROCEDURE:




1. Measure the brake light switch clearance as illustrated, with the brake pedal released.

2. With the brake pedal still released, loosen the lock nut and back off the brake light switch to a position where the plunger does not contact the brake pedal arm.

3. Adjust the switch so the clearance between the brake light switch outer case and pedal arm is within specification.

4. Tighten the brake light switch lock nut and re-measure the clearance.
