Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Drain cooling system, then disconnect radiator outlet and water bypass hoses from water pump.

2. Remove drive belt, then the water pump pulley, Fig. 37.
3. Remove timing belt covers and tensioner.
4. Remove water pump mounting bolts, then the alternator brace.
5. Remove water pump assembly.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten nuts and bolts to specifications, install timing belt tensioner, then adjust belt tension as outlined under Timing Belt.
