Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

1. Connect a scan tool to the data link connector.

2. If a scan tool (ST) is not used, connect a digital-type voltmeter between terminal 13 and terminal 18 of the ECM.

NOTE:
1. Do not disconnect the ECM connector from the ECM.
2. Use a digital voltmeter.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start engine) and check that the TP Sensor output voltage is as specified. If a scan tool is used, press code No. 14 and read the voltage.

Standard value: 480-520 mV

4. If it is out of specification, loosen TP Sensor mounting screws and adjust by turning the TP Sensor.

NOTE:
1. Turning the TP Sensor clockwise increases the output voltage.
2. Tighten the screws securely after adjustment.

5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
