Vehicle Speed Sensor: Testing and Inspection

VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS)




The vehicle speed senor is a reed switch. The vehicle speed sensor is built into the speedometer and coverts the transaxle gear revolutions into pulse signals, which are sent to ECM.

If there is and open or short circuit in the vehicle speed sensor signal circuit, the engine may stall when the vehicle is decelerated to stop.
