Audio System - CD Lock-Up

Group: BODY ELECTRICAL

Number: 99-90-006

Date: APRIL, 1999

Model: 1999 SONATA

Subject
1999 SONATA H-922 AUDIO SYSTEM CD "LOCK-UP"

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides a procedure to reset the H-922 audio system in the event that the audio system will not accept a CD.

SYMPTOMS:

^ The H-922 audio system CD indicator light may stay "On" (indicating a CD is present in the player) although there is no CD in the system. When this happens it will not accept a CD and the audio system is "locked up".

^ Another symptom is that the CD player will continually operate the ejection motor.

This is most likely to occur after the battery has discharged enough to require a charge or after the vehicle has been jump started.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

To reset the H-922 audio system, verify that the vehicle battery is fully charged. Turn off the ignition switch and remove the "Short Connector" (refer to TSB 98-90-007) in the vehicle's fuse box. Wait for a minimum of ten (10) minutes to allow the radio's internal capacitors to discharge. Reconnect the "Short Connector". Turn on the ignition and verify that the H-922 audio system is operating normally.
