2000-01 ACCENT 1.5L ECM REPROGRAMMING
FOR POOR ACCELERATION CONDITION
DESCRIPTION:
Certain 2000-2001 Accent model vehicles equipped with the 1.5L SOHC engines and automatic transaxle may experience the following symptoms.
^ Poor or delayed acceleration when driving after an initial cold start. Excessive rpm drop when engaging the automatic transaxle gear after an initial cold start.
The following procedure describes updating the ECM software by using the Hi-Scan Pro.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: 2000-2001 ACCENT vehicles with 1.5L SOHC engines
^ Affected vehicle production date range:
- 3 Door model: Produced through April 13, 2001
- 4 Door model: Produced through October 20, 2000
^ Affected vehicle identification number (VIN) range:
- 3 Door model: Produced before KMHCF35G61U144435
- 4 Door model: Produced before KMHCG45G81U182574

CAUTIONS BEFORE REPROGRAMMING:
1. Conduct reprogramming with the ignition key in the "ON" position.
2. Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or Hi-Scan Pro during reprogramming.
WARNING:
If reprogramming is interrupted, the manual update procedure must be used.
3. Do not start the engine during reprogramming.
4. Do not turn the ignition key off during reprogramming.
5. When the reprogramming is completed, turn off the ignition key for 20 seconds before starting the engine.
WARNING:
This re-flash is for 1.5L only. Do not download to 1.6 Accent. This will render the ECM inoperative.
