WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING/DEFOGGING

This bulletin is being issued to advise of an operational change to the HVAC system on 2001 MY Elantra, Sonata GLX, Santa Fe and XG300 vehicles.

When the windshield DEFROST mode is selected on the Heater Control Panel, the air conditioning system will automatically switch ON and illuminate the A/C button, whether the A/C button is depressed or not. The A/C windshield fogging.

In the interest of improved fuel economy, for the 2001 MY, the driver can override this feature and turn the A/C off after having selected the windshield DEFROST mode by depressing the A/C button. By depressing the A/C button the A/C system will be deactivated and the A/C button will no longer be illuminated.

Please note that the 2001 MY Accent, Tiburon and Sonata GL function the same as 2000 MY, and you cannot override and turn the A/C off after having selected the windshield DEFROST mode.
