"DOOR LOCK LEARN PROCEDURE"
DESCRIPTION:
When installing a 2001 Sonata or Tiburon Security System Upgrade, an additional step must be included before testing the system. The Security System Module must "learn" the output polarity from the Keyless Module to determine whether it should arm or disarm the system. If the Door Lock Learn Routine is not applied, the doors may unlock in the "arm command" and lock in the "disarm command" or the system may not function.
The following Door Lock Learn Procedure must be applied after the installation of the Sonata and Tiburon Security Upgrade:
1. Turn the ignition key to the "off/lock" position.
2. Open the driver's door.
3. Turn the ignition to the "On" position.
NOTE:
Driver's door must remain open during this procedure.
4. Press and hold the Valet button (located under the driver's side dashboard) for three seconds.
5. The LED (located at top side of the steering column shroud) will flash once to confirm the door lock polarity was learned.
6. Test the system for proper operation.
The installation instructions from the Sonata and Tiburon Security Upgrade Kit will be updated to include the Door Lock Learn Procedure.
