TITLE: Elantra Electrical Changes

APPLIES TO: 2004 Elantra

SERVICE TIP:

Several changes were made to the 2004 Elantra engine management electrical system for the non-SULEV model. Notable differences occur in Air Flow, Idle Speed Actuator, a Continuously Variable Valve Timing System, Front Oxygen sensor, Intake Manifold and ECM & TCM. The table and pictures below will aid you in familiarizing yourself with the changes.





The table lists the changes for the Non-SULEV Elantra.


NOTE: The Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) emissions specification Elantra has not changed for the 2004 Model Year (versus the 2003).






The following is a list of components which have NOT changed from 2003 to 2004

Model Years for the Non-SULEV Elantra.

1. Spark Plugs (Platinum)
2. Fuel Injector
3. Catalytic Converter (integrated into the exhaust manifold assembly)

NOTE: Please refer to TSB 03-36-014-01 for detailed information on some of the components described above.
