Subject:
2007 SANTA FE AUDIO RECEIVER WITH DIGITAL AM/FM TUNER

DESCRIPTION:

All 2007 Santa Fe AM/FM CD audio receivers are equipped with digital AM/FM tuners. When diagnosing what may appear to be a faulty AM/FM tuner with an intermittent high frequency loss, please refer to the following.

These digital tuners are different from conventional analog tuners in how they negotiate a weak radio signal. When a weak signal condition is encountered, they will attempt to maintain good frequency response and low (static) noise by temporarily limiting the high frequency information.

This strategy dramatically reduces the amount of background noise and static heard by the listener, with the trade-off being a temporary reduction of 12dB at 10kHz for 1 second or more (the actual duration depends on the length of the weak signal condition). Depending on the type of music or talk program, this reduction can be noticeable.

This may sound like a temporary loss of 'highs', 'treble', or a stereo signal temporarily going mono. This condition is NORMAL and will only last for the duration of the weak signal condition, recovering as soon as the signal strength improves.
