Restraints - Rollover Sensor Implementation

Group ELECTRICAL

Number 09-BE-028

Date DECEMBER, 2009

Model 2010 SANTA FE, TUCSON

Subject
SRS CONTROL MODULE ROLLOVER SENSOR

DESCRIPTION:

A rollover sensor has been incorporated into the SRS Control Module (SRSCM) beginning with the 2010 model year Santa Fe and Tucson. The rollover sensor determines if it is necessary to deploy side air bags, curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners if a vehicle rollover occurs.

As a result, the Air Bag Control Unit must be fully installed in its prescribed position after diagnosis or repair. All mounting bolts must be torqued to specifications [5.0 ~ 6.8 lb.ft (0.7 ~ 0.9 kgf.m; 6.8 ~ 9.2 Nm)] and all grounds must be properly attached. NEVER turn the ignition on without the Air Bag Control Unit securely bolted down to the floor pan.

Refer to the Restraint (RT) section in the 2010 model year Santa Fe or Tucson Service Shop Manual for more detailed information on the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).

VEHICLES AFFECTED:
All 2010 model year Santa Fe and Tucson vehicles. Santa Fe and Tucson vehicles.
