XM RADIO MODULE REPROGRAMMING
NOTE:
If Service Campaign TC3 (TSB # 10-01-029) is open on the VIN, please perform the Service Campaign. If an open TC3 campaign is not listed on the vehicle or the repair has not been previously performed on the vehicle, please follow the instructions below.
DESCRIPTION:
In 2011 Sonata vehicles, some XM radio stations may experience an "XM Loading" error message.
This bulletin provides the procedure to reprogram the XM radio module for the Single-Disc CD Player and the 6-Disc CD Changer audio units to improve the XM signal.
NOTE:
This software update does not apply to the Navigation Audio Unit.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
2011 Sonata vehicles equipped with the Single-Disc CD Player or the 6-Disc CD Changer audio units produced from 12/07/2009 through 3/08/2010.
PARTS INFORMATION:
Two copies of the reprogramming CD disc were previously sent to each dealer to be used for updating the XM radio software for Service Campaign TC3. Additional discs can be ordered through the PDC.
NOTE:
Although reprogramming CD disc will indicate for campaign usage, the CD disc may also be used for this TSB.
REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Confirm the reprogramming unit is a CD Player or CD Changer audio system.
1. Record the customer's AM, FM and XM radio stations.
2. With the radio power OFF, check the current software (SW) version of the audio system by pressing and holding PRESET / then PRESET 6 simultaneously for more than one (1) second.
3. The Head Unit will then display the current SW as noted below:
4. If the CD-Player SW version is (M1.5(F)) "VO.M1.1.044" or the CD-Changer (MAIN) SW version is "V0.M1.00447", proceed with the SW update. If the SW version is "VO.M1.1.047" for the Single CD or "VO.M1.0047" for the CD-Changer, the software procedure does not need to be performed.
5. Push the POWER button to turn the radio on. Ensure that all discs have been removed from the audio system and insert the reprogramming CD.
6. When the audio file begins to play, push the POWER button to turn the radio off.
7. While pressing down on the PRESET / button push the PRESET 4 button and simultaneously hold the two buttons for five seconds and release.
NOTE:
The screen will be blank.
Press the PRESET / button four (4) times.

10. Press the PRESET 4 button to begin updating the internal XM module. The screen will display the following:
11. After the update is complete (approximately 2 minutes), the system will automatically power off.
12. To verify the radio has been reprogrammed successfully, with the radio power OFF, check the new software (S/W) version of the audio system by pressing and holding PRESET / then PRESET 6 simultaneously for more than one (1) second.
13. If the software version does not match with the software noted in the previous step, repeat steps 5-10. If the software version matches, the reprogramming procedure is complete.
14. Reset the AM, FM and XM radio stations and verify that they are functioning normally.
