Engine Control Module: Description and Operation

Engine Control Module (ECM)-ECCS Control Module:

PURPOSE
The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls engine operation through the Electronic Concentrated Engine Control (ECCS) system.

OPERATION
The ECM uses input signals from various sensors to control output devices. The ECM has its own trouble code, No. 31, which will illuminate the the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) when a problem is detected in the Central Processing Unit (CPU) inside the ECM.

CONSTRUCTION
The ECM, consists of a diagnostic mode selector, inspection lamps, microcomputer, connectors for inputs, outputs and power supply.
