Ignition Control Module: Description and Operation
Power Transistor:
PURPOSE
To convert the Engine Control Module's (ECM)s' pulse signal into an ON/OFF switching function controling the current flow through the ignition coils' primary circuit windings.
OPERATION
The ignition signal from the ECM is amplified by the two power transistors, which turn the ignition coil primary circuits ON and OFF, inducing the proper high voltage in the secondary circuits of six individual ignition coil assemblies.
