Fail-Safe System
PURPOSE The fail-safe system makes engine starting possible if there is something malfunctioning in the
ECCS control module's
(ECM's) central processing unit
(CPU) circuit or if certain diagnostic trouble codes are recorded.
Fail-safe Chart:
OPERATION The
ECCS control module enters fail-safe mode if any of the diagnostic trouble codes (see chart) are recorded, due to an open or short circuit.
