Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Mass Air Flow Sensor Test:




1. Fold back mass air flow sensor harness connector rubber as shown in the figure if the harness connector is connected.
2. Turn ignition switch "ON".
3. Start engine and warm it up sufficiently.
4. Check voltage between terminal "a" and ground.

^ With the ignition switch "ON" (Engine stopped), there should be:
Approximately Less than 1.0 Volts DC.
^ At Idle (Engine is warmed-up sufficiently), there should be:
Approximately 1.3 - 1.7 Volts DC.
^ Racing (Idle-about 4,000 rpm), there should be:
Approximately 1.3 - Approx. 4.0 Volts DC.

Mass Air Flow Sensor Hot Wire:




5. If NG, remove mass air flow sensor from air duct. Check hot film for damage or dust.
