Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Camshaft Position Sensor Test:

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR TEST
1. Remove distributor from engine. (Camshaft position sensor harness connector should remain connected.)
2. Disconnect ignition wires.
3. Turn ignition switch "ON".

CMPS Test Results Table:

4. Rotate distributor shaft slowly by hand and check voltage between terminals (c), (d) and ground. Results should be as shown in image.
5. If N.G., replace distributor assembly with camshaft position sensor.

Visual Check Of Signal Plate:

6. Visually check signal plate for damage or dust.
