SERVICE INFORMATION

If an Applied 2003 G35 Sedan has a MIL "On" and the following DTC stored in the ECM:

^ P0442 EVAP Control System (EVAP Small Leak)

Start with the SERVICE PROCEDURE to find out if the bulletin applies to this vehicle. If it does apply, complete the Service Procedure to repair the incident, if it should occur.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

You will be performing the following, as required:

^ Perform CONSULT-II Self-diagnosis (repair as needed).

^ ECM Part Number Check to determine if this bulletin applies.

^ ECM Reprogramming (needed if a match is found during ECM Part Number Check).

Perform CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis:

1. Perform Self-Diagnosis using CONSULT-II. Print and attach the Freeze Frame data that contains the ECM Part Number to the repair order.

See Figure 1 for an example of the CONSULT-II Self-Diagnosis printout.

2. Using the appropriate Electronic Service Manual (ESM) procedure, perform "DTC Confirmation" (using CONSULT-II). If a leak is found, use the appropriate ESM procedure to repair the vehicle.

ECM Part Number Check:

1. Using the ECM Part Number printout from Step 1, compare the vehicle's current ECM P/N to those shown under Current ECM P/N in the Chart, below:

A. If the ECM P/N in the vehicle matches one of those listed under "Current ECM P/N" in the Chart (above):

^ Perform ECM Reprogramming, below.

B. If the ECM P/N in the vehicle does not match one of those listed under "Current ECM P/N" in the Chart (above):

^ ECM Reprogramming is not necessary. Repair is complete.

ECM Reprogramming:

1. Perform ECM Reprogramming to install the latest available ECM data.

^ For those familiar with ECM Reprogramming, perform the following:

A) Select model and model year for the applied vehicle (i.e. G35, 2003).

NOTE:
If there is an option, select specific Model Configuration (i.e. 4-Door A/T).

B) Make a note of the "To" number listed in the "ECM Reprogramming Data" Summary screen.

NOTE:
The "To" number will read: 23710-XXXXX.

C) Press "Continue" and follow directions to perform data download from ASIST to CONSULT-II.

D) When reprogramming from CONSULT-II, select the "To" number that you made note of in step B, above
