Valve Clearance: Adjustments

Measure valve clearance with engine cold and feeler gauge positioned between rocker arm and valve stem. Adjust intake valve clearance to .010 inch for 4FB1 engines and .016 inch for C223 and C223T engines. Adjust exhaust valve clearance to .014 inch for 4FB1 engines and .016 inch for C233 and C223T engines.
1. Remove cam cover.
2. Inspect the rocker arm shaft bracket bolts for looseness, retorque as necessary.
3. Bring No. 1 cylinder to TDC on compression stroke.
4. Adjust intake and exhaust valve clearances of cylinder No. 1, intake valve of No. 2 and exhaust valve of No. 3. Turn crankshaft one full revolution to bring cylinder No. 4 TDC on compression stroke. Adjust intake and exhaust valve clearances of cylinder No. 4, exhaust valve of No. 2 and intake valve of No. 3.
5. Reinstall cam cover
