IMPULSE COLD DRIVEABILITY

Some customers may encounter driveability and/or hesitation problems during cold engine operation.

Driving habits of the owner, ambient air temperature and fuel quality represent only a few of the variables involved. A simple switch of gasoline brand often improves driveability. To use of gasohol or other such blends can have negative effects on smooth driveability.

The use of fuel which does not conform to factory specifications will contribute to decreased driveability.

Engine adjustments should be set exactly to factory specifications. The state of the following items is especially important in creating smooth driveability.

A. Idle speed
B. Ignition timing
C. Spark plugs
D. Fuel pressure
E. Valve adjustment
On JR's below VIN E0903303, cold start operation may be improved by installation of the latest I-TEC controller, #8-94145-167-0. All adjustments listed above should be checked before replacing the I-TEC. Contact your ZS&PM to obtain authorization prior to I-TEC replacement.
IMPORTANT
Do not deviate from factory recommended adjustment procedures or specifications to minimize tie above condition. To do so may cause the vehicles emissions to exceed Federal and State emissions standards.
